Meet Dr. Kurian

Dr. Marina Kurian focuses on treating obesity with minimally invasive techniques to reduce surgical discomfort and hasten recovery. She educates surgeons nationwide, publishes extensively on minimally invasive surgery, and offers various options for morbidly obese patients, including gastric bypass, gastric sleeve, LAP-BAND® Adjustable Gastric Band, and revisional procedures.

A leader in New York City, Dr. Kurian conducted research on the adjustable band and vagus nerve stimulation for obesity. She presents globally, appears on television, hosts a SiriusXM show, and authored Weight Loss Surgery For Dummies. She is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, president of ASMBS, and a member of SAGES and the Association of Women Surgeons.

Dr. Kurian’s Education

Dr. Kurian completed her Fellowship in Laparoscopic Surgery at The Mount Sinai Medical Center.

Dr. Kurian completed a 6-year combined undergraduate and medical school program at Albany Medical College, followed by her residency where she served as Chief Resident.

A native of NY, Dr. Kurian attended the prestigious Stuyvesant High School.

Meet Leslie Addamo

Leslie Addamo is a board-certified Physician Assistant specializing in Bariatrics and Medical Weight Loss Management at NY Minimally Invasive Surgery. With over 2 years of experience in medical weight loss in Garden City, New York, Leslie also served as a Physician Assistant in Orthopedic Surgery at New York Presbyterian Lawrence Hospital for 4 years. She graduated with honors from St. John’s University in 2017, completing both her undergraduate and Physician Assistant Studies.

Leslie is actively involved in the Obesity Medicine Association and the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery. She is passionate about guiding patients towards their weight loss and wellness goals through lifestyle changes, medication management, and, when appropriate, surgical interventions. Leslie finds great fulfillment in empowering others and looks forward to partnering with our patients to improve their health.
